Making a "Dough-nation"
The Alder Companies van, along with Deb Alder as driver, were part of a cookie “dough-nation” on Wednesday evening, September 14th. Three brothers, Sam, Mason and Grady Stebnitz, along with their Mom( Jill ) and Dad ( Chris), conceived the idea for the project when Mason was asked to sell cookie dough as a fundraiser for his football team. They sold some dough in the usual manner, but they also asked friends and neighbors if they would like to buy some and donate it to a local food pantry or other charitable organization. Mason sold 130 boxes total, and 90 were donated to charity.
The Stebnitz family led the way, but one of the boys and Deb drove the Alder van all over Walworth county. “Dough-nations” were delivered to 9 locations including three food pantries, three senior center/nursing homes, two agencies that help the disabled and the county homeless shelter. At each location, the group learned a little more about the mission of the charity and how they work to help the community.
It was a great time, a beautiful day and a new kind of delivery for the Alder Companies. Hmmm…. Milk and cookies… maybe we’re on to something!

The Alder Companies were excited to welcome Lauren Zomboracz's Business Administration and Accounting class as they made a trip to the dairy. Students sat down with Alder Companies' President Debra Alder to ask questions and learn about the history of our company. The students also learned the financial impact of safety and compliance on companies in the transportation industry and got a chance to sit in the cab of a tractor to experience the view a professional driver has when traveling down the road.
The Alder Companies were a Silver Sponsor of the Life Empowerment Open, held on June 28, 2010. The Lifelong Empowerment Open (or L.E.O., for short) began in 2007, and has quickly grown to one of Walworth County's largest fundraising events. Hosting on average nearly 400 golfers and over 500 for the dinner and auction, the L.E.O. helps raise much-needed funds for several Walworth County organizations that help the disabled. In 2007 and 2008, the proceeds went to SMILES, VIP Services and Lakeland School. Inspiration Ministries joined them as a co-beneficiary in 2009 and 2010.
Several Alder Companies employees played golf and 12 employees were present for the L.E.O. auction and dinner. In 2010, the Life Empowerment Open raised more than $200,000, a 55% increase from 2009! The following are some pictures of Alder Companies employees participating in the L.E.O. event.
